Nice to meet you!
My name is Caprice. I am a 34 year old artist with a bright future but for the moment let’s time warp to the past.
When I was a little girl someone told me I was good at drawing & my confidence went though the roof. Just like that, a passion was born. Of course when I got older it was time to make a college decision and I knew I was destined to be a great artist. If you ask any artist they secretly thought they would be too.
The thing about coming from a small town is, your knowledge of art is limited. My heart exploded with every new class I explored. My husband will tell you I was in the studios day and night. Competitive and desperate to be great.
I didn’t always create items that I loved but each assignment taught me something new about myself. Once I was out of college making a living was hard but with each new challenge I got to learn something new. I worked for a newspaper in pagination and design. That was fun! I got to learn about layout, fonts and digital programs that I didn’t master in the past. I took an artist residence for pottery, I even started working in the most unexpected place, a liquor store. You may wonder what could you have possibly learned for art? Let me tell you, a lot. The publics preferences to start, logos and labels galore. Displays, decorating and designing posts for marketing. All this to say it doesn’t matter what day job is as long as you keep moving forward with your passion.
After all these years I still love the processes.
I am currently an Art Editor (graphic designer / assistant director / all around badass) for the Florida Department of Agriculture. Designing and learning with an end result of something I can be proud of and you as a viewer can enjoy.
So if you are in the market for something that is made with experience, pride and passion. I am your artist.
